Welcome to Luton

Situated just thirty miles north of London and surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, Luton has much to offer as a location.

The community of over 180,000 is composed of a blend of people from a diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds which gives the town its unique and vibrant atmosphere.

A university town, Luton offers a wide choice of venues for the arts, including The Library Theatre, a traditional 238-seat theatre, and a multi-screen cinema and entertainment centre, as well as the Hat Factory which is a multi-purpose arts and media centre hosting a huge range of music gigs, the best of touring and fringe theatre, art house films and a range of dance classes and is a huge pull for Luton.

The museum in Wardown Park offers a wealth of local and major touring exhibitions, and Stockwood Park is the home of the Mossman Carriage Collection. A good network of public libraries across the town, some open seven days a week, provides a wide range of services including free Internet access for members, with a virtual library service available 24/7.

Sporting facilities in the town include three swimming pools, four sports centres, an international standard running track, a golf centre with a floodlit driving range, and two newly refurbished large health and fitness suites.  The town’s newest state of the art Multi Sport Facility, Inspire, is used for filming the ITV series, Splash.   Further information of sport and physical activity can be found by visiting the Active Luton website.

Luton has it’s own professional football club, Luton Town FC, nicknamed the ‘Hatters’. Luton is home to a wide range of shops and restaurants which reflect its cultural diversity, as does the Luton International Carnival which is the largest such one-day event in Europe.

Luton is ideally located; London is just half an hour away by train, and with the M1 running through the town and the A1(M) also close by, there are good road and rail links with the rest of Britain. From Luton’s international airport, budget airlines offer cheap flights to many parts of Europe and beyond. Public transport within the town is also excellent.
